Interchangeable parts between 305 and 350
Planning on building a 350 and putting it in place of the 305 in my trans am. Im just wondering if all I need to buy is the block, and if everything else from the 305 will work with it. I dont care about things like the cam because Im planning on getting performance stuff for the engine.
Also its TPI

Re: Interchangeable parts between 305 and 350
Block & pistons are the main difference. They have different heads as well but a 350 short block can be built to work well enough with 305 heads that the TPI will remain the primary limit to performance.
Everything else - tin, crank damper, flywheel or flex plate (as long as both motors are either 85-back or 86-up), distributor, and the entire TPI itself, are the same. You'll need injectors, the PROM for the ECM, and the right knock sensor; but the whole rest of it is the same.
