v-6 to a 350 or bigger

I got a 2.8 v-6 in my bird. I wanna put a 350 or maybe some thing bigger (427 zl-1 comes to mind...:-) ) What woudl i need to do to convert this. Do i need to redo the motor mounts. I know i need to do the suspenion. any thing else. also what do you guys think would be the best tranny for this kind of set up. I want to be able to drive it on street but i also wanna have a good tranny. I need it to be an auto. none of my friends will teach me how to drive manual becuase they have seen my drive an automatic and think im gona hurt their cars.

Then the car probably isn't worth the time and money you are going to spend swapping......find a v-8 car....something nice to start. the motor and tranny might be cheap....add another $1000 for the install.....now is the car worth it.....body work and upholstery cost alot more than $600.

what I mean is why spend all the time and money on a car that isn't worth the money to replace it. There are lots of 3rd gen out there. Find one with a v-8. then go with the 427.....good luck

If you go far enough with the build it doens't matter what you start with because you'll be replacing everything either way. That would be the case if you used the ZL1. My car was a 2.8 also.

thanx for the input. The ionly thing this car really needs (besides the tranny) is a paint job. the 427 is just a thought ill prolly just start wiht a cheap 305 or 350 and then save up for some thign more but the only thing it needs to get it on the road would be the tranny and the alternator but otherwise its in good shape considering what i payed for it. It's definately worth putting the time and money into it after im done itll look killer, but i need to get a damn job.

Then I say go for it..do alot of research....give yourself plenty of time. Find a donor car...heck just plan on lots of trips to the jy....parts store...I would go with a 350..one part at a time....these cars are great !!!! So many combinations. I'm currently looking for a 400 sb. My friend built the motor I have now. Runs great....but.....I want more and I want to do it myself.
A job ! How about a trust Fund
Have fun
