Classic 305-350 vortec swap so I bought this 350 from a salvage yard and have not a clue what I'm doing it's from a 1999 Chevy 1500 Questions I have:
1.Can I use this carburetor even though the connections and cable on it is in the reverse location as the car?
2. The fly wheel is much larger will I have to use the old one?
3. What are all the side connections and how do I deal with them?
4.the new intake manifold has a large connection for something right in the middle that was not on the old one what do I do about that? 350
There's no "carburetor" on that engine. It's a fuel injection system known as CPFI (Central Port Fuel Injection). Your ECM AFAIK can't run it. It's totally NOT performance-oriented anyway, being intended for trucks, and is essentially modification-proof, therefore not applicable to your vehicle. However you can remove all that as far down as the heads and buy a new manifold that fits those heads that uses whatever other fuel delivery system you want. Looks like you have TBI now; there's several ways to adapt that, some better than others, if you want to keep it. You have other choices as well.
Depends on what flywheel you have now. If that TBI motor is in your car now, and it's original, then you probably can.
Not sure about "side connections". Be more specific.
All that will need to go away, so it doesn't matter.
This fellow did an original TBI 305 (L03) to to Vortec 305 (L30) conversion. While you have a Vortec 350 (L31), I would think much of what he went through would apply to your situation.

Oh, come on now....it was 10 hp more than the '91 'Vette and 25 more than a '92 Camaro optioned w/the 350!....and those were TOTALLY "performance oriented"!
Sad.
Put a Vortec Edelbrock Performer RPM intake on it, carb of your choice, non-computer controlled HEI distributor...then go burn some rubber.

That's not going to fit under the hood of his 1991 base model Firebird with the W68 Sport Appearance Package. Well it's not going to fit under the stock hood of any 3rd gen Firebird with any kind of air cleaner assembly worth having.
