Hey guys, I'm putting a Speed Density 350 into my Jeep and I'm using the 730 ECM. I want to get a chip that eliminates the VATS and the VSS systems, everything else is stock. Two questions...

1) Seems like this should be a common item, any places stock something like this?

2) Would it be worthwhile to get a performance chip? Can I get an extra power from just the chip?

You can get chips or have them burned to remove the VATS, but AFAIK, you'd have to have some reprogramming done (like source code) to remove VSS related functions. Keep in mind, I don't know that positively, just fairly sure and decided to say so since no one else chimed in yet.

2) Yeah, you might get a *little* bit of extra power from a "performace" chip's increased fuel and spark tables.

 

I'm doing the same motor swap in my CJ-7. check out www.howell-efi.com for a chip that gets rid of VATS. As far as the VSS, I have no idea if you can do that. The Painless wiring harness tells you that you can bypass the VSS by tying the park/nuetral switch wires together, leave the VSS wires unconnected and do not connect the brake switch wire to the brake switch.

Not sure if you are using the stock harness or not.
