best motor

I want to get rid of my 305 in the next couple of years, and I want to know which engine is the best.(most hp) LT1, LS1, LS6, LT4? Also which transmission would be best, T-56? I want to do this because before i start souping up my car i want a good motor to build up. "no replacement for displacement"

You might want to start with deciding how fast you want to go, and pick the appropriate weapon. Out of your list, aside of the extra difficulty in the swap, I'd pick the LS1.
