vortec heads
vortec heads
what modifications must i do to have my TPI setup(87 and up) fit onto vortec heads? i know that the vortec TPI intake base is out but i want to know what you must do to make it fit. ive seen people talk about elongating bolt holes? please fill me in on this. im trying to keep cost to a minimum.
I know you can elongate the middle bolt holes on 86 and earlier manifolds to fit the 87 and later heads, but I think you'll have to get a new manifold. Go to www.sdcp2000.com . They have them for about $400, I think. I know you are on a budget, but that's the best I know to tell you.
well, the vortec headsbolt holes are staight down from the top not angled inward and the vortec intakes only have two bolt holes at each end on either side, there are no middel ones in the center. I thought about trying to find someone to modify my Ram Jet intake so I could use regular Pro Action 215-220 heads on a 406.I sent one of the G.M. performace parts dealers an email asking what modifications could be done but they said that the vortec intakes are different angels than the earlier heads and also I know that the intake ports are raised like on LT1's and have been told that they wouldn't match up to older heads even though ther are supposed to be 23 degree i think.Basically he said it would be like trying to put a square peg in a round hole.I guess keep checking around, somebody might have it figured out.
