Is it possible to drop a 454 in a 3rd Gen???

I love both of my 88 camaros. But I want to build a 454 and put it into one of them. I was wondering if it would fit. I have been told that it will fit but it will be very tight. I was wondering if possible would you have to change the motor mounts? What tranny would you run with that ( stick ). I havent started this yet, becuase I want to make sure that it will fit. I want this car to be like a dream/show car and I want a 454. If this is possible, what would you need to do this parts and etc. I want 400-500hp out of this also.

Thanks,
JRupert

If a SBC can fit, a BBC can fit. It uses the same mounts and everything. YOu may want to pay soemone to do the plumbing, b/c the kits arent very good. FYI-- be sure you have a tranny that can handle the power, thats the problem im running into.

All the info from my 427 swap is on my page at www.koolmeister.com. The headers are definately the worst part.

So if the headers are the worst part, can you have some custom made, would that be the easiest and with the least hastle way to go? Whats the best way about getting a block? junkyard or buy a complete new one?

Heh I felt the same way when I got my vert... 2 days later I went to the speed shop and got about $400 worth of stuff to make it faster! Once this new clutch is done, and I throw the new injectors in there, I should be high 13's Still no where near fast enough. If I was smart, I would save my money to finish my 406 for the GTA, but ofcourse I wanna mod the hell outa the vert too. Ehh, typical 20 year old I am... whatchya gonna do right?

It is not a hard swap, just plan in advance. A good set of lemons, quay or davis headers will make the job a lot easier. btw, I am selling a complete BBC changeover "kit" check the for sale board or www.nescaracing.com for sale page for more info.
