'89 Iroc 305 to this...??

Any details for a newbe engine swapper would be appreciated.

Want to put this http://www.goautocenter.com/300hp_tpi_1987-89.htm

Into this

1989 5.0 TPI w/th700r w/weak 2:73's??

I've been searching for a new direct (almost direct) replacement crate for years. Seemed only late model stang owners had this luxury. Want at least 280 to 320 horse and easy swap to a reliable engine. Only need new injectors and 350 rated cpu chip right???

Car has its third th700 and is busted again (stuck in 1st gear).
I may grab the new one from them as well allthough I've grown quite tired of the tempermental th700's. Any tips?

I've seen those motors before. They seem like a good deal to me. With the added power and torque I would say that sub frame connectors are a must have, especially since you have a vert. I envy you there, I think they look stunning I believe steve spohn is going to be making SFCs for the verts now that he is moving over to a tubular design as opposed to the current boxed ones.

As for your tranny, I'd give Dana at pro-built a call. He knows his stuff and will build you a tranny to your specifications. I'm sold on that one, and I'll be getting one sometime this year.

hahah your car could be twins with mine!

Yes you will need the bigger 350 injectors and you might want to look into a custom chip instead....

Sub Frame Connectors
350ci TPI Injectors

Ok and what about "custom chip"? This car has the Old Hypertech Thermomaster rated for the 5.0, I'll need one for the 350? Are they still in production?

I wouldn't get a hypertech, from what I've heard they aren't that great. Ideally you want a chip custom made for you. That's what I'm needing and have been convinced by the guys on the PROM board to learn to do it myself. Ih, however, you don't want to try it yourself I would speak to Ed Wright. His wab site is www.fastchips.com I have heard only good things about the work he does.

Also, it could be worth your while to change the intake base and runners. These were all designed around a 305 and with the 350 you should get a nice little gain from having larger bits there. But that can be done at a later date.

Hope this helps
