how do i pull the engine?
I'm having some friends over to pull the engine out of my 86 trans am tommorw, and i'm just wondering where am i supposed to hook the hoist to?The engine doesn't have any lift brackets, and doesn't have an intake manifold. Thanks

Easiest thing I do,is if you're using a chain from the lift(which you probably are),just attach the chain using a bolt through a link screwed into one of your accessories holes on the heads.I use the driver side in the front, and the passenger side in the back and haven't ever had a problem!Make the chain shorter in the front, than in the back and it'll tilt it up for you slightly too........happy pulling
P.S.
Don't forget to get lots of ziplock bags & some 'frig markers to lable them - AND threaten to bash anyone about the head & sholders that doesn't CAREFULY bag and lable where the bolts came from. With 2 or 3 people pulling stuff off the engine/ weeks later you aren't gon'a know where stuff came from.

Heh, when I pulled the engine outa my GTA, I just threw all the bolts in a small Igloo lunch box!
Im replacing all the bolts with ARP's anyway, and dont like alot of the factory style bolts anyway.
When your pulling it, just GO SLOW. Take your time, and youll be good to go. Use the hole where the grounds attach to the back of the heads to anchor the chain... works like a charm!
