Im putting a 4.3 tbi with 4l60 from an s-10 into my 89 bird with a 2.8 and dead 700r4. I need moter mounts, wiring harness for the tbi and might have to do exhaust. What else am I missing and are there good heads/cam for a 4.3 truck engine on limited budget?

welcome to the board!

instead of saying "Why not just put in a V8?", good luck in the swap. I'm doing the 3.4 thing so I can keep emissions legal and retain the same tranny. Sounds like you allready have the motor & tranny waiting. Get all mounts/wiring harness from donor vehicle. As for good heads,.........spend $6 & get the GMPP catalog. Nothing for CPI Vortec engines , but plenty for others, & there are supercharger kits out there too for the TBI motors

Ive actually been watching this bored for years...just had a few problems here and there since I was a second gen camaro owner and 1 of the admin people stink (no names). I just signed up now cauz ive got a 3ed gen.

The car was handed 2 me by another memeber of this bored (crovax) along with the engine. Im putting them together and completly redoing the suspention on as limited budget as possable (find me a way 2 make fuel I will...cept im not big on making patatos into vodka). Im having a lotta fun with this car and since it hasnt cost me a cent yet and im in no hurry 2 get it on the road, why not take my time and do it creativly.

A TBI 4.3 will really wake up that bird of yours. The advantage of the cam in the 4.3 is it's roller, so you can get a bigger lift out of an aftermarket cam and really make that 4.3 a powerhouse. Remember to do the ultimate TBI mods on the main site, and for the heads, a good port and polish will help them right along for little or no money. Good luck with the swap.
