4.3 tbi goin in 2.8 mfi
Ive posted this elsewhere on the ubb but ill put a copy up here.
Im putting s-10 4.3 tbi engine and 700R4 tranny into my 89 bird with the 2.8 and dying 700R4. Ive got the computer for it and I need to buy a wiring harness. what kinda issues will I be running into and is the anything I should do other the label parts before I putt the 2.8?

Im pretty sure that the 4.3 uses v8 motor mounts. How hard is it to put the 2.8 intake manifold and injection crap onto the 4.3 and do I need to reprogram the computer? or can I use the 4.3 tbi computer?

Hey- I've done a 4.3L swap into a 2.8L S-10 if it helps at all...
Not too sure about the mounts, the engine might end up too far forward (ie-trans also, driveshaft mods, etc). Then again maybe not, might as well try it first to see. If not, your best bet would just be to weld up a custom set- ideally you want your trans to be exactly where it would be in a V8 car. Electrically, you should be able to use an L03 or L05 harness and ECM- I would use a 1227747 ECM, just because they're super common and easy to hack or a 1228062 because those are the most common 4.3L ECm as far as I know. Do yourself a favor and get the REAL (GM/Helm) service manuals and wiring diagrams and just go by those. It will take awhile, but just go thru and make sure everything is straight & you'll be good to go the 1st time around. Well good luck & keep us posted on the progress
I always wondered when someone would do a 4.3L swap into an f-body...

ive been thinking (and my engine is sagging from the car cauz I havent had time to fully pull it yet), should I bolt up the new tranny first so I can use the original driveshaft or is that a bad idea? also with the wiring, will the headlights still work from a wiring harness from another car (lets say either a monte or caprice)?
