Hi,
I'm from Dachau, Germany. I'm 22 and I got a '89 Firebird. I bought the car in 2006 and I do not know a lot about it's history, except for the fact that it was imported in November '89 as a new car. So, I guess it was never driven in the US.

About the car:
It's a 2.8l MPFI V6 with T-Tops with currently a little over 87.000 miles. I replaced every kind of fluid in the car (engine, trnasmission, brakes, etc.) and bought new brakes for the rear wheels. Replaced parts include the catalytic converter, OXS, exhaust pipes and generator.
Exterior changes: I got the original side mirrors (and got rid of the unbelievably ugly Euro-ones), taillights from a '82 Trans Am, D80 rear wing, new rims for the summer and a Pontiac emblem from a G6. Oh, yeah and a new paint job. It's a custom created color and was actually done at a Mercedes shop in Munich.

Here's some pictures:

That's the car how it looked when I bought it

And a pic from before the new paint job. I was kinda going for the '82-look there

Here's how it looks now

I hope you like it.
Oh, and also I love this board. I've been looking and reading for a long time now and figured I might as well join.

I like the way it looked when you first got it... You got any plans for a v8 swap or anything in the future?

Gorgeous car. Looks great in black, but I am partial to red, especially since it is the original color.

My mother was born in Germany, and I have family there.

Wilkommen!

Re: New guy from Germany
Thanks for the nice welcome, everyone!

@Bullydawg:
No, I'm fine with the stock engine. Maybe, I'll think about a V8 once the engine is dead one day. But hopefully that's way into the future.

@RMK:
Yeah, that was done by the former owner. I still got 'em. I forgot about them when the car was painted, otherwise they'd be black, too.
I still drive them during winter. The red wheels on the black car actually look kinda cool.

@ternades:
Danke.
Thanks man. I've always wanted a black bird. I didn't mind the red and the paint was still very good but there were some errors in it. It seems like some air got in there when the car was originally painted. And then the bubble burst and left a small but very notable blank space right there in the middle of the hood.
You could actually see the ground coat. It bothered me to no end.

Oh, and if I may ask: where was your mother born exactly?

Ladenburg am Neckar. My grandparents are buried there, and my aunt and uncle and other relatives still live there.

Very nice looking bird, and welcome to the board!!

I Lived in Nuernberg for 6 years and Bad Hersfeld for 3, of course that was 20 years ago, so I'm sure much has changed since then.
