Metal work problem

I am looking for the metal piece that the lower L bracket for the passenger headlight is bolted to. I also need the piece behind the healight. It is spot welded to the radiator support. Could get a full Core support from the US but exspenive to ship if someone would ship it. I only need these two pieces on the passenger side. Possible could get the piece behind the headlight fabricated but the bottom piece has groves that the L bracket sits into so more difficult. Easiet option is if I could get the pieces. The pieces are spot welded so shouldn't be difficult to remove.

I have tried Oldcott moters and DB Motors but no luck.

Is there any other breakers I could try in the UK or what about the rest of Europe, anywhere in Germany or Sweden?

Any Help appreicated.

Re: Metal work problem

Steve at Oldcott is who I was going to suggest. A quick google search brought up DBMotors. Although I have no experience of using them.

http://www.dbmotors.net/10283/info.php?p=3&pno=0

Stay away from a company called All American Motors though. Long story short, it ended in court.

Re: Metal work problem

Hi,

I have tried Oldcott motors but they have nothing. I also called DB motors 5 weeks ago and was told he could not look to see what he had for three weeks. I called again two weeks ago but he still hasn't checked.

I have seen a post on another site warning people about All American motors.

Is that all the breakers there are in the UK. Is there any place that imports parts like doors and body panels.

Re: Metal work problem

Are these parts welded or bolted on?

Try contacting Hawks to see if they have them. I had a bumper and 2 fenders shipped over by them a few years ago.

Hi,

These parts are spot welded. Takes a bit of time but not terribly difficult.

I am also looking for other parts like a drivers door, Fan shroud, Under fender guards maybe a passenger fender don't know if this can be repaired. Do you mind me asking how much it cost you to get the parts shipped over.

Re: Metal work problem

I honestly can't remember the cost. If I'm able to find the paperwork I'll let you know the cost. Hawks should be able to give you a shiping price for the parts though.

Is Steve from Oldcott saying he doesn't ahve any Firebirds at all? He should have a door though I'm sure. Or...Felix (ZZ4fast) has a Camaro he was breaking, you could try contacting him to see if he still has the door.

The problem is that so many of these cars have been scrapped over the past few years and due to the cost of importing against the cost of the car, no one is importing thirdgens any more. The problem is only going to get worse.

Re: Metal work problem

Hi guys,

That car is long gone but definitely worth contacting Rocky at American Technique in Watford. He has cars in all the time and some good spares.

Cheers

BTW hope you are well Rob!

Re: Metal work problem

Hi,

I contacted Oldcott a few weeks ago. He took a day to see what he had and said he had nothing.

ZZ4Fast is this the name of his website, I could check it for a phone number.

I will also contact American Technique tomorrow.

The rate at which these cars have been scrapped is alarming. I see on US sites cars beening broken up that are better then what I have. In a few years there will be very few in existance.

Thanks.

Re: Metal work problem

ZZ42FAST is a member of this forum is all I can find out but does he break cars or import spares. Can find any website under that name.

I called American Technique and was talking to a guy named Richard. He thinks he may have a Core Support but has to check in Stock. I will give him a call tomorrow if I don't hear back. Doesn't have a door.

Re: Metal work problem

ZZ42FAST doesn't break cars for a living hence why you can't find a website of that nature for him, but he bought a 5 speed Camaro last year for parts for his own project and was offering the rest for sale to forum members.

Re: Metal work problem

Okay, I see. Probably not much left of the car now if He was offering parts for sale last year. I can send him a PM with what I need once I find out what American Technique have available.

Thanks.

Re: Metal work problem

Hi guys- it is me ZZ42Fast. The car I broke was with Richard at AmericanTechnique. Richard has had another nice 91/2 to break- worth calling him again or mailing him at americantechnique@talk21.com as he prefers e-mail. Tell him that Felix said you would help him out. Good luck.

Robert I responded to PM mate

Re: Metal work problem

I was talking to Richard yesterday, had to send him on a picture of where the blower motor goes on the engine bay on an 82 model. I need the blower motor and interior ducting as well as loads of other stuff. I will send him an email tomorrow if I don't here back from him.

Thanks.

Re: Metal work problem

Hi,

Car originally had Air Con,Is the blower assembly you have Air Con or not?. I have to replace the interior ducting also as all the passenger side ducting has been ripped out so doesn't matter if I use Air Con or Non Air Con motor. As far as I know the Camaro blowers will fit but will double check this.

Re: Metal work problem

Its for an AC car, Non AC and AC have different size cages, Firebird and Camaro are the same. Ill find it out and post a pic, so we know we are talking about the same thing. I will put 12V on it to make sure it works as well

Re: Metal work problem

The car originally had air con but doesn't have it now. So once the blower assembly lines up with the holes in the firewall and the interior ducting goes to all the vents then I am happy.

On the non Air Con cars I am told there are pull levers, one each side of the steering wheel. That is not on mine.
