Lost keys Scotland
Lost keys Scotland
Hi all!
ok, so I lost the only set of keys I had for my ‘91 Firebird, have no idea of the VATS resistance but still need to get a new set, how do I find out what resistance I need without the keys and how can I get new VATS keys over here? (U.K.)

Honestly, if you can get into the car, I'd just buy a whole new set of locks, and bypass the VATS.
Re: Lost keys Scotland
Get a set of VATS resistors and try each one, one at a time, until you find the one that allows the car to start. After each unsuccessful attempt, there's a waiting period before the proper vats value will work, so it takes time.

Re: Lost keys Scotland
The problem is less about VATS and more about what key code the locks have. It’s not possible to look up key codes by VIN anymore.
and even if you do have the factory codes if the locks were changed they will now be different.
