Yes, but only if they are coated headers.

I think even when they are coated they still raise temps right?? Maybe not as much though.

If they do it's only slightly, they run cooler than manifolds so the under hood temps are a little lower, but nothing that would benefit.

chrome or stainless headers run a hella lot hotter..... header wraps are the way to go!

If you have MAD cash then header wraps are great! However for the normal user who doesn't want the heat trapped in his headers so that they melt, coated headers save you money because instead of running for a month then replacing your headers they'll last a LOT longer and have much more benefits with the coating.

well chrome headers are usually jet-hot coated and they still run hot as **** so if u go chrome , wraps are a must and it wont melt jet-hot coated chrome headers..... they will melt any other kind of non-heat treated headers

If I understand Matt right...he's asking if the MOTOR runs cooler not the under hood temp. The header will flow exhaust better than the manifolds, therefore the exhaust heat isnt pushed back into the heads because of restriction. The motor should then run cooler. However, the underhood temp will be more because the headers are thinner and have more surface area. Therefore, they lose more heat to the air under the hood then the manifolds would.

I know in my case, when I installed headers my coolant temp dropped significantly. Like 30* average.

Has to let a lot more heat out of the engine.

Boy, that was a unknowledgable statement. Header wraps are total junk, they trap moisture speeding up rusting and can collect oil and other deposits and that's a serious fire hazard, it's happened. Headers run cooler than manifolds by the way.
