Gutted/No Cat Exhaust

Hey

I am thinking about taking out my cat completly or gutting it so that it still looks like its there. I am just wondering if I remove it if its gonna wreak somthing or mess somthing up. and will there be a sound difference or anything like that. I heard that if ur cat is cloged it will make ur engine run hotter is that true.

So should I gut my cat or no...What are the benefits and what are the disadvantages.

Thanks

Some people say that a gutted cat will disturb the airflow from it's shape. I can personal vouch that a gutted cat makes your exhaust sound hallow, if I ever do it to mine I'm just gonna replace the cat with a piece of pipe. Should make the exhaust a lil louder without a cat....

Why not just buy a hi-flo one? Or put a straight pipe in its place, unless you have visual emission checks.

i gutted mine and it sounds great. had to keep it on for visual inspection. it did increase the volume some, and with my flowmaster it sounds mean as hell.

straight pipe it. i have had both on the exact same exhaust setup the straight pipe was louder and meaner sounder. the gutted cat is not anywhere near as loud and it sounds like *** with the hollowness. getting fixed soon though

Not sure if you need it for looks, but if you do then gut it and put a straight pipe inside of it. If you don't need one then remove it and put a pipe in its place. A good cat is just restrictive, not sure if HP would be gained if removed, unless it was bad. Yes your motor runs hotter with a bad one, the hot air doesn't leave your front pipes as fast.
