popping when i rev eng

popping when i rev eng

just wondering, when i rev the motor, i get a poping sound from under the car, like its back firing. possibilities of problem before i dive into fixing it

If it's coming from the tail pipes, that might be normal. Though if it's under the car, sounds like an exhaust leak, do you have any ticking sounds that increase with rpm?

Transmission: Five speed
Also look for black marks around connections mainly, but all over as well. The black is carbon, and will be a leak.

thats what i figures there is occasionally a ticking along with the reving. the exhaust and engine need an overhaul any way, just want to know if people have had this/ what it was

Not sure what you have for mods, but if you have hedders, you may just need to tighten down the bolts. But it does sound like a leak, right off of the head, that is where I would start checking. A valve ticks all of the time I think, not sure.

ok thanx, as of yet i have no mods, all stock..i am a long way from modding, just want all to work with the stock setup before anything

if it's all stock and still has the AIR that's why it does it. all my emmissions equipped vehicles have that popping noise coming out of the exhaust when i rev & let of the gas above 3,000.

when my car had the emissions stuff hooked up it never made that popping noise. lots of cars do though. im glad mine doesnt i think it makes the car sound bad.

Mine pops when the revs goes down and the car is cold. When the car is warm the revs rumble down. I think it sounds awesome and so do the people that hear my car. I think mine is coming from have a hi-flo cat though.
