SLP headers hitting steering shaft with Polly mounts need help....

Just installed my driver side header and it seems to hit the steering shaft pretty bad even though I have polly mounts "that should have raised it up high enough"

Now I did loosen the 2 bolts on the steering shaft plate on the inside of the fire wall...I cant get any movement out of it one way or another

Here is a link to a few pics. Headers

How did everyone else get theirs to fit??

Can someone explain how to really get movement out of the steering shaft?

Thanks
Rember just "denting" the headers is out of the question

Move the steering column. Elongate the holes on the triangular "flange" that bolts to the firewall. I had to unbolt the column and move the shaft out of the way to get my 1 3/4" SLP's in. I didn't even have enough clearance to get the column straight again, much less ever turn the steering wheel. I moved the column by elongating the holes AND ground the steering shaft down somewhat. Now I have a whole 1/4" of clearance . I hope it's enough. It is much more than I had, though. Many people have had to do it; do a search on here for moving the column or something like that. It really pisses me off that the headers don't fit when they cost as much as they do.

ya your telling me

you pay out 610 bucks and the sh*t won't even fit right at all!

AND My SLP runners are SH*T as well, the casting is terrible, gaskets are WAY off, and the Runners mounting surface is about 1/2"-1/4" taller then the Plenum

I am not the bigest SLP fan at all

I will try drilling the holes and grinding the shaft and see what I get but it looks like I need a lot of room still

Thanks

I just ground the shaft to get 1/4" clearance. I don't have any contact at all, with stock rubber motor mounts.

It does really suck that SLP made the headers *that* close to the steering shaft. They could have bent that tube on a slightly sharper angle and it probably wouldn't have made a bit of difference in flow or power.

Mine did not fit ether. I ended up just denting one primary. I just wish they would have told me that their headers have clearance problems before I ordered them. Would have gone with the 1 5/8". Luckily the Y pipe they gave me fit, when I took my car to the shop to get it all welded up the mechanic was surprised that it fit. Hopefully the posi that I just ordered will be the last thing I buy form SLP.
