dual cats... a planning question

I have dual cats, and I am sure at least one of them is toasted. I wanted to replace them both with like 3" catco cats within the month (really want to go to the track ). But I am also planning on adding headers by the end of the summer, just wanted opinions on whether I should just go with adapters and the 2, 3" cats for a month and then have the adapters removed, or just bear out a few months with blown cats.... Thanks for your opinions.

I had the same dilemma at one time. I hollowed them out and ran it that way for 3 weeks until the new catcos/headers/catback showed up.

Gut the cats, then you'll have a nice sounding exhaust too.
