Exhaust and Cats
I am thinking about getting Hedman Street Tork-Step Painted Headers along wiht Hedman Y-Pipes. I then plan to put Flowmaster American Thunderas as a cat back. Does anyone have any thing good or bad to say? Also.....
Also I am thinking about taking off my cat. My 87 Trans Am has a single catalytic converter and I am considering taking it off. I was told that for the f-bodies it can add a good amount of power. Can anyone tell me if it can or can't?

Removing the stock cat will free up some HP, but a hi-flo one will hardly rob you of power. Sounds like you've made some good choices for the exhaust.

If you have the money, it would be worth it to get the headers ceramic coated. As for the cat, I'd say take it off and replace it with a pipe (don't hollow it), or you could put a hi flow cat on like Mark said. It will barely rob you of any power. The stock cat on our cars was a pretty big restriction (not to mention heavy), but the whole exhaust setup was very restrictive. The new exhaust will give you lots more power even if you do put on a hi flow cat.
