Which is better Hooker or Edelbrock TES...

Hey

Which headers are better. Edelbrock TES or Hooker super comp. I hear that the hooker comes with a Y Pipe. I am not sure if the hooker does but I think it does. I am also going to be adding a Hooker Catback which is 3". So I need Headers that come with a 3" Y Pipe because I dont want to have one custom made. So tell me some imformation about the Hooker headers and the Edelbrock TES..

I have heard that the Hookers flow better.
Thanks

I hear just about anything is better than the TES, if I could do it over again I would go with the Hooker.

Just get anything other than the TES. The primaries are tiny and feature a stepped design that basically sucks. And the collectors are an abortion and a half on the TES.

I don't have any experience with them, but I would think the Hooker shorties are pretty good and the SLP shorties are nice as well.

I thought that the Edelbrock headers sucks pretty bad. Now all I need to know is if the Hooker Shorties come with a 3" Y Pipe. I dont want to have one custom made.

If you get the supercomps, they come with a y-pipe. Should be 3", but I'm not 100% sure. If you get the comps, then you'll have to have it custom made.

The Super Comp shorties, p/n 2055, come with a y-pipe with 2-1/2" down pipes going into a 3" slip fit at the cat.

The collector connects to the y-pipe via a ball flange. At least on mine, the opening in the ball was 1.9". I wrote Hooker about that, saying I didn't see how such a small opening would flow properly, especially since the collector and down pipe were 2-1/2" (that's OD). Their response was that the opening was kept small to ensure a good seal, and it wasn't a restriction since the gases have slowed down by the time they get to that point.

I mounted mine to the engine and did a fit check of the y-pipe. Then I took an angle grinder and opened up that ball flange, centered on where the down pipes clamped to the ball, to 2-1/4" (the ID of the down pipes). No leaks, and it runs great.

If I were to get the hooker super comp headers, they come with a 3" Y Pipe. But do they make the Y Pipe so that it will connect to my 4 bolt cat.

They come with AIR tubes, and I think an O2 bung. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Damn, I wish I would have known about this site before I bought a car. My braking sucks on this car.

I have four wheel disc brakes. They're nothing special and the rear pads are always a ***** to change. LOL you should go to the suspension/brake board. Everyone there with the earlier '82-'88 four wheel disc brakes isn't too happy with them. Don't worry you're not missing out on much.

Oh yeah, i have those hooker supercomp shorty headers. They have all the smog **** on them and so fourth. A few unique things about them is that the oxygen sensor is facing the firewall not the front of the car and the place where the hose from the AIR pump goes to the check valve on the AIR tubes is facing the other way (at least for my car).

Still off topic:

The stock rear discs suck, and they're bigger than my front discs. They don't even stop the wheels from spinning when I'm up in the air. (Makes switching from drive to park quite the experience.)

Mine are getting upgraded to Baer brakes in the winter.

all mass produced headers have some compromises in them to keep cost down. Edelbrocks have wierd Y pipe, they use to have staggard primaires, Hooker super comps have no Y pipe, Hooker 2055's have small diameter openings on their ball flange, SLP's are expenisve.... and so on.....................
