CATCO cat or hollowed out cat??

I have an 88' iroc-z 350TPI single 3inch Random Technology cat back exhaust and right now the catalytic is hallowed out and it sounds like a gargling garbage truck i think i should put on a Catco high flow cat?? Do i even have enough back pressure right now with a hallowed out cat, will the catco cat slow me down, iam running 14.025 now, want to be in the 13's THANKS ANYONE

If you don’t have emission lows where you live, gut the damn thing

He's already got a gutted cat. Putting a hi flo one on, you'll hardly notice the difference.

The cat is already gutted and the car sounds like a loud garbage truck, with the random technology 3inch cat back! Will the catco cat make it sound any better like a throughty flowmaster sound??

adding a straight pipe or putting on a high flow cat will help sound quite a bit

thats what i did to mine.. and suprising passed emissions!!!

however, this isn't such a good idea, putting a pipe through your cat, UNLESS you have a welder, and can weld the pipe that u are sticking through ur cat TO your cat.. especialy if you did it the way i did.. if your confused look at the pic below

in my setup.. i clamped (soon to be welded) the new pipe to the y-pipe, and bolted the cat to the rear exhaust section (cat back).. and slowly they started to seperate, the new pipe was pulling out from the cat, creating a BIG leak... so after I J.B. welding it twice, i think it finaly stopped coming apart.... But i would strongly suggest getting it welded.. Other wise its not worth it..

Gutted cats sound like crap, I know because I had one for awhile, go with a straight pipe or get the big cat for it, the cat will quiet it down a lot but not slow it down if it's a good one.

Thanks guys, since i need to pass emissions i just ordered a new direct fit CATCO catalytic converter, i'll let u know if it sounds better, or if it slowed me down or gained, because i feel i have very little if any at all backpressure with a gutted catalytic converter, thanks justin!!!! (P.S. headed to maple grove on friday night to find out)
