Components for 3 inch system...
Getting SLP 1 3/4 inch headers for dual cats... i want to have a shop build a 3 inch exhaust all the way to the muffler (80 series flowmaster)
I am prob blind
but i didnt see the sizes of the pipes coming out he headers to the cats.. are they 3 inch or 2 1/2 and if i want this 3 inch system made, will there be problems with it fitting under my 1992 z and for cats... i will need 3 inch inlets and outlets.. correct?
What cats shouldi look into, i see all kinds of different lengths like 16 inches and such, what type/ size cat do i need, and what company will flow the best, i wont be gutting the cat or anything, so i am looking for hte best flow/reliability out there...
Thanks.

If I'm correct the SLP Y-pipe output diameter is 3". I think you can purchase a dual cat adapter pipe or you can fabricate your own.
If you are gonna run dual cats do NOT get 3" in-out ones. I think you will need 2.25" in-out but I'm not sure. Somebody else here should have that answer.

Also on the cats:
I used Catco with no problems, cost was about $60
I looked into Ramdom Tech cats, but nobody could justify their high price.

Stock dual cats are 2.5" inlet and outlet. From manifolds to cats are 2.25" pipes. From cats to y pipe is 2.25" pipe.
Pukka.... why would i not get 3" in/out for cats?
having the piping go from 3 inch to 2 1/4 inch will create some serious back pressure if i am not mistaken?
and 3" in/out would flow alot better, would i not?

Thanks for clarifying that for me...
I guess i'll leave the cats to the exhaust shop and just tell em to give me high flow cats... Anyone think they will actually give me high flowing cats?

Sometime within the past few weeks someone posted the p/n's for Catco direct fit dual cats. I believe it was Summit.
I know stock dual cats are 2-1/4". I would assume the SLP dual cat system uses the same size, but I don't know that for a fact. Some guys have gone dual 2-1/2", but IIRC, that was custom fabricated.
Catco are highflow. FWIW, I picked up a universal 2-1/2" from Checker for my van, it was the Walker brand, but was fabricated identically to the Catco I have on the Camaro.
