Quiet Performance???

Quiet Performance???

I have a stock cat back system, nothing special. The cat has been removed though.

my car is just too loud. sounds like a dirt bike, around 2-3000rpm it sounds like im screaming but wait till I rev it to 6000.
I find my self short shifting all the time. I almost gotta force myself to not shift till 3000. it does sound good but I dont need to sound like im racing, when im just trying to cruz.

anyone make a real quiet muffler that still flows??? or is there any tips made that could muffle the sound without losing flow?

people can hear me miles away like a crocth rocket.

is it worth removing my old tips to try a set of these? I can get them cheap, friend took the pics. they look as if they sound would be quieter since they are open front and back?

not that exciting looking.

and I guess right now my tips are solid split, dual tip chrome ones and they poke out the back like two megaphones. maybe if some of the nosie stayed under the car?

Spin Tech Race Quiet muffler (www.spintechmufflers.com). Inside the car with the windows up, it is quiet. With the windows down, though I can hear it nicely. It's low and sounds GREAT from behind the car where it is also fairly loud. I'm sure that the directionalness/directionality (my own words?) of the sound is caused by the straight back tip.

I really like my Spin Tech--quiet if you want it to be, roll down the windows to get an earfull, sounds very good.

I have a Ravin muffler, it is a deep low tone, I do only have the 305 with heeders and stock cat back, but it sounds great. When I take my foot of the gas it crackles. And when I get into it above 3800 RPM it even crackles then!! The muffler is a little pricy. But I will never buy a flow again. When I find out how, I will try to get a sound clip on the board for everybody. I also have stepped into the world of leaky left headers!!!

I had a dynomax cat back it sounded good and was quite. Sound similar to stock, but had a deeper tone to it.

try some Magnaflow mufflers...very quiet, and also flows very well.

I too would like a quiet exhaust.....does anybody know if you can hang a Dynomax cat-back or does it have to be welded in?

Give dynomax a few months and it gets LOUD as hell. Even walker quiet flow mufflers get even louder and cheap sounding compared to the dynomax, which are identical except for the 2 1/4 outlets on the walker quiet flow.

Stock mufflers, or perhaps a TFX catback ($279 from summit) may get you the sound you are looking for. Performance would be negligible on a low output motor, unless you want loudness.
