2.8 exhaust options
I just replaced the cat after it had rattled for who knows how long. But I've still got a lack of performance and the exhaust is still hella loud, so I'm thinking that there's still a restriction somewhere. It's gotten to the point where I'm setting off people's car alarms when I go to park my car. The thing is, I want to keep the exhaust this loud, but remove any possible restrictions. Would I do best to go with a flowmaster 80 series muffler, the dynomax cat back, or some other option? The other question I had is there some sort of muffler I could get to replace my stock one that had the single inlet on the pass. side and the dual outlet on the driver's side? Thanks, Joe
You can go with any muffler that is designed for your car. Its up you on what kind do get, depends on if you like your car quite or loud. If you want it loud I'd go with a flowmaster or hooker, but if you want it quite I would go with dynomax. I'd recommend the whole cat back, but if you dont have the more or want to just get the muffler.

haha dont put a big 3 inch exhaust on a 2.8 unless you want that import sound... it sounds pretty cool at idle but as soon as you give it gas it sounds crappy. Me and my buddy just put the 3 inch american thunder on his car today and it sounds pretty crapp for now until he gets his motor in.
My girlfriends car is a 89 z24 cavalier with a 2.8 we took the whole exhaust off put a glass pack in place of the converter and ran 2.25 pipe all the way back. Doesnt sound like a rice burner. Its freaking loud all the time sounds great under acceleration, like a really mean v-6 if you are looking for that aggresive v-8 noise I dont think you will ever get it without the v-8. I have a flowmaster 80 series on a 3.4 camaro and it sounds good at idle but like crap on the gas.
