SLP loudmouth clone, single exit..

I've been trying to decide on which exhaust setup to do on my trans am for some time now.

I can't find *ANY* tips that I like though.. I was toying with the idea of using the large quad oval tips from the SLP SS exhaust, but that quickly was thrown out (no rear valence to offset the tips)

I've seen a few TA's with the 3" and larger bore chrome tips.. but they look like they belong on a landscaping truck... Those tips would look like complete *** on the car I think..

I saw Lou's exhaust on his 98 SS.. and I like the setup..

What's your guys' opinions on this:

Single inlet dynomax race bullet muffler (3" in/out) to a single tip, exiting on the drivers side.. This setup is a little quieter than the SLP Loudmouth, and less raspy.

Here are some pics of it.. I'm not sure how the single exit will look on the TA though...

Any suggestions?

Thats a nifty setup, something different, and probably sounds killer if you don't mind having one tip. Using a dynomax muffler would be cool too.

I'm not a fan at all of Flowmaster exhaust. Their flow is less than par, and it sounds cheap. The tips also look horribly ghetto on a firebird.

i can't say that i've heard any dynomax exhaust on a firebird or camaro but i've had it on a few other cars and trucks and loved it. i think with them you give up a little bit of aesthetics for performance, which is fine with me.

i know most people arent big fans of the big 3 inch tips a nymore, and neither was i, but when i got my exhaust done the guy thought he was doing me a favor by putting them on for me. they're not as bad as i expected and that is mainly because he positioned them so they sit about 3/4" inch from my bumper (no heat problems) and the end of the tip sticks out only about a 1/2" inch. if you keep them tucked under, they dont look too bad.

also, one thing you could look at although it is kinda pricy is having a dual exit system of your choice and putting on some sorta of borla tips.

If you're going do so a single exit exaust with a bullet muffler, why would you make it go to the left side of the car from the right? Just keep everything on the right side.

that setup is killer. Other ppl would look past it then u blow them away. It is the perfect sleeper exhaust and different way different. like my 5" by 3" rectangular tips on my 80 series.

To have it exit on the right, I would have to put the bullet under the car before the axle, and that would involve cutting and welding the intermediate pipe.

I would rather just cut from the muffler weld on my current setup, and have the bullet put there, with a left side exit.

I've decide to go ahead with this method.. I'll let you all know how it turns out

the muffler could be put under the rear of the car.
