Shoot ME!! Heddman Problems?

Ok i need help. i have heddman shortys with the y pipe. They leak like crazy.... tried 10 different types of gaskets... nothing. Bought a new set..... they leak. Just noticed they are getting dented because they hit the frame rail on the passanger side..... Am i bending the flanges by hitting the rail with the headders? I thought heddman was supposed to be "perfect fit hammer free?" Someone please any suggestions?.................

I have those hedders and y-pipe too. I haven't experience this problem. Are you serious that you tried 10 different types of gaskets? That sounds like a lot. The hedders are "hammer free" your problem is that you must have a broken or cracked motor or tranny mount, which is causing your engine to twist under torque load and hit the frame rail. Get a buddy to rev the engine while you look at it and under it, you should be able to see whats going on from there. If you really went thru that many gaskets than check all the hangers on your exhaust system make sure that the Cat to Tranny hanger is in place in good condition, if not it could be pulling on your hedders. You didn't say if it was the collecter or engine gasket but I assume it's your collecter since you ask if your bending the flange. If it hits at the flange than you are bending it. If all those things aren't the culprit than try "Percy's Dead Soft" gaskets. They are supposed to be good but I wouldn't know personally. Also are the flanges welded to there side of the pipe, that makes a big difference, hope that helps.
