Flowmaster Question

I have a 92 rs with a 305 tbi. its completly stock and i was wonder which flowmaster would be better to use the 50 series or the 80 series? some post on here say to go with the 80 series. i know the 80 series is alot louder then the 50. i'm just wanting to change the muffler right now.

I think the Cross flow is the only one that would fit in the cat back. And that looks like the 80 series.

I have an 80 series. I am very happy with it. Mine does not crackle, and has the growl muscle car sound I want. Id go with the flow.

Bah they have all 4th gen sound wav's for 80 series

i had a flowmaster muffler (not sure what series number) in my 1988 formula 350 and i would go down the street going 40 to 45 mph at around 3,000 to 4,000 rpm and i would get all the ricers attention, when i went buy their little meetings on the side of the road

Good luck trying to find a hooker catback for a little while, I just ordered the last one from summit and hooker themselves are out of stock. I think that Thunder racing onle has one left, but they rape you on the shipping.

Man that sucks I was planning on ordering one very soon to. About to switch to edelbrock TES headers and a 3'' hooker catback. I have to get rid of my y pipe its horrible. Also its smashed almost in half in one spot. I know that has to be killing some power.

i ended up getting the flowmaster 80 series. i like the way it sounds. the place i went to had it in stock. i have to agree with iroc about the hooker and the motor they show you the different horsepower ratings on. that doesn't tell you what its going to be like on another engine. but i'm happy with the choice i made. thanks again for all your help guys.

Now get some kinda tape recorder for 10-15 bucks and record it so we can hear it. Just get a wire from radio shack that fits in the recorder and the back of your pc's mic input. Go to start find or search for files and folders. Search for sound recorder. Open that hit record on the sound recorder and play on your tape recorder. Now click file save as and save it! post it here!!!!

I have the 80 series Flowmaster( 3 inch in and 2.5 out) on my 305 TBI and its has a deep low sound. The sound is more like a deep vroom than a growl which I like to have. Maybe header will change the sound and really turn some heads.

If you think the brand new flowmaster sounds good give it a few months. It will get louder and louder the more you drive it trust me. I was pissed when they first put them on because it wasnt loud at all. Now its almost annoying.

I felt like I lost some low end torque but around 1800 RPM you feel the difference and it did get louder with time.

if it gets louder that will be ok with me. but i have notice a difference in power already. i notice it more when i get up 2000 rpm and higher. it feels like its had quicker response. i have a shift kit on it. the guy i bought it from had one put on. i was shifting it myself and i let it get to about 4500 and then put it into second and it took off alot better then it use to. with the shift kit it would always churp second when i got on it but it was harder this time. redbird i'll do what you said and try to record it. when i do i'll post it.

there is a reason everyone uses flowmaster.........it deliver's the goods. h e l l dynomax claims to make more power than flowmaster but my car proved it dead wrong. the only dynomax that out powered my flowmaster was the bullets but they were just plain loud. look under some drag cars at the track that have to run mufflers......if you don't see dynomax then what do you see.......FLOWMASTER.

I guess...Im just not crazy about the sound myself. I at least wish i would have bought a flowmaster catback through summit or something instead of having my local shop do it. The bends are terrible and my y pipe SUCKS so bad...I bet i lost power over the stock manifolds and y pipe because of this y pipe they made...seriously its horrible.
