Does anybody have pictures of edelbrock headers with their AIR plugged off?
Im probably gonna get a set of the edelbrock headers and i was just wonder how everybody decided to seal the A.I.R hoses off. I dont have A.I.R anymore and due to the ripping and breaking of the A.I.R components
its impossible to ever have it again. Anyways I was looking at getting summit part # EDL-6872 which has the slip on 3inch cat. Anyways anyone have pics or suggestion about how to plug the holes? Also do the edelbrock headers come with good bolts and gaskets or not?

Sorry I dont' have pics, I lost them all. But basically, I just used JB Weld to plug them off. I eventually will cut them off.

I used brass tubing connectors that I drilled and brazed. I can now insert a 1/8 inch exposed thermocouple into any cylinder exhaust stream to make a measure of exhaust temperature for tuning purposes.
Works great though the thermocouples are expensive! When the thermocouple is NOT inserted, I place a stainless steel ball bearing into the collet and tighten for leak-free operation.

Cheers,
Daniel Burk

Looks easy enough. I just can't find a better header for the price and it actually comes with a decent y pipe. To bad edelbrock is so set of keeping things legal....But if I get the 69 firebird im going to look at tomorrow the 88 will have to take a backseat for along time.

They are ~$350 but do they come with a 3'' y pipe? And I'm sure they are harder to install than edelbrocks I know my hookers were a pain. Supposedly had to raise the motor but I just took a bunch of stuff off. I just want a decent header with a decent 3'' y pipe. And I think the hooker ***** has me set on getting a hooker catback.
i have dynomax headers looking to find better headers. whats the best size and type of headers should i use. i dont have to use the A.I.R. stuff i ripped it all out. any ideas. oh and to plug up those A.I.R, wholes i just used a set of brass plugs.

I'm going to be doing a test, hopefully next summer. I might try my current exhaust with my new motor on a water brake dyno. Then, I'm going to swap in a set of Hooker long-tube headers and repeat the test. I'm hoping to develop a decent tune with my handy-dandy FLASH PROM, a programmer, Tunercat, and this here #730 speed density ECM that's been laying in a box on my desk since 1997.

The picture above is a pic of what I did to coat my own headers: I stripped off the black paint when they were new, then painted them with VHT1600 in flat aluminum. Two coats, then a couple hour bake in my lab oven at 400 degrees... The headers have not rusted one bit in three seasons, and it only cost me an afternoon and sixteen bucks.
By the way, I bought mine from TPIS for $315, shipping included. I, like you, also ground out the welding bead with the die grinder.
Like Mark said if you have a decent set of headers and a decent y-pipe no point of changing for 5 extra HP. But in my case I have a feeling its going to be alot more than 5hp...since my entire exhaust is so screwed up. Plus I want to go to 3'' because what I plan will need it.
true, when i bought these headers i didnt do much research on them. and since i dont need to run the AIR tubes i can get headers woth out those tubes. i was just curious curious how big of a header i could go. the ones i have on know look small. i have seen some headers for about $150. thats not that bad. the 3 inch pipe does make a whole lot of difference though. i have 3 inch on mine and made a world of diference in power and sound.
