SLP catback exhaust?
Hey everyone? What do you think about SLP's 2 on the left catback exhaust system for thirdgens? I'm thinking about getting one and putting it in next spring. Right now, I have a flowmaster catback but I don't know which one because the previous owner doesn't know either, so it could be an 80, or an American Thunder or whatever else they make. I have almost all of the components of the original GM perofrmance parts packagae that they offerred on the '91'-'92 TPI Firebirds with the SLP exhaust being the only part I'm missing. My main questions are, do they flow better than the Flowmasters and also, how do they sound? I have the SLP 1 3/4 inch headers and I figure since SLP makes the headers, I'm betting they designed it to work in conjunction with the SLP catback. (Also, yes i know that these headers aren't the same as the original Tri-Y headers from '91-'92, but they were as close as I could get.) Thanks in advance.
I installed SLP # 31007 Cat back on my old 1992 Z28 5.7L, it sounded great, not too loud, but throaty. I am thinking about installing the same on my '92 B4C, but then the whole sleeper aspect goes away. Hard decision. The SLP is a great exhaust and well made, expensive though-$399.95.
i got it and it sounds like a bassy glasspack ( well it is!!) i bought it because its all stainless. I like the sound it make when you let off the best, kinda reminiscent of a top fueler when t hey shut down. I find it a bit too loud, but there is no Resonance.

bassy glasspacks huh? OK! I think that settles it. You guys have convinced me to go out and get one. Now to save up for the cash. I'll have to replace my cats anyway snce I think the original factory N10 is on it's way out. The headers, with new catco high flow dual cats and the SLP catback should make for a very interesting combination...
Chevrolet still produces the N10 dual-cat setup in the parts dept.
GM price: $1183.00
Internet price: approx $895.00
Part store (special order replacement) $700.00
I realize you are going to get new cats and they will be cheaper to install than the above (about $450 approx for 2 cats installed)
The N10 system above comes with the y-pipe, cats and after cat pipe to intermetiate pipe. Comes and installes as one unit. This would only be the replacement for what you already have if interested.

$895 ****ing dollars? WTF?! That's insane for an N10 replacement! And it's still the stock crap.... Check out this stuff that I found:
http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=27814
This is the CATCO OEM replacement dual cat converter made for F-Bodies. Direct fit with dual cat Y-pipe and for $280.99. I'm betting they outflow the GM cats too.
F**K GM parts!

Well, the factory cats have a 2 1/2 inch outlet pipe, right? So since the SLP catback already bolts up to the factory cats, then it should also bolt up to the new catco cats just as easily too, right? How hard was it to install the catback anyway? Or should I just have a muffler shop do it for me?
