another exhaust question

I have another Exhaust question. I have a 1982 T/A with a Cross-Fire Injected 5.7l V8. it has a couple mods. i have edlebrock headers that end in 2 1/4" that are already installed. and i am planning on getting a cat back system. Im pushing about 300hp. Should i go to 2 1/2" or 3" or is 2 1/4" fine for my car. Thanks

You can get a system from Hooker that is 3 inches for the entire exhaust, other than the last 2 inches of intermediate pipe where it snakes down to 2 1/2 inches meet the cat.

Hooker makes several versions of their cat-back...I believe my exhaust was 2 1/4 (stock 305tbi exhaust) and the intermediate pipe went down to connect to the stock cat..the rest of it was 3"

Thanks. I found a Hooker cat-back with the aero chamber muffler for $199.00 and its 3" and it says it will fit my engine code. That is what im going to get. a muffler shop was going to charge me $300 for a cat-back with flowmasters but that didnt come with tips. and it was press bent. The hooker cat-back is mandrel bent for better flow and it comes with tips.. Thanks
