Full Exhaust Setup questions
Full Exhaust Setup questions
I am going to order a full exhaust setup next week. Money is not an option really for my setup. This is going on a 1991 Z28 convertable with a 5 speed with 61000 miles, so i still have the cat if needed. but my questions are as follows, i want to install a full SLP stainless steel system, headers, y pipe, 3"I pipe and a 3" stainless catback. i am very highly considering not using the cat and just putting stainless piping in place of it so it would look bad *** . but if i dont use the cat, should i get the headers with or without the AIR tubes, and what do they auctually do, and then what i would need for installation. any help or comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If money is not a factor, i would go ahead and run a high flow cat (random technologies) whether you keep your emissions stuff or not. If you live in a emmissions area, you'd better keep your AIR.
I got rid of mine when i installed my slps, it really cleans up the engine bay and that is about it, as far as the removing the pump gaining you horsepower....you wont feel any gain, maybe 2-4 at high rpms.
Correct me if i'm wrong on this....the AIR systems job is to inject some air back into the manifolds to help lean the exhaust mixture out, meaning it helps competely burn the gases and what-not. Man that was a rough explanation, but maybe that gives you an idea.
