installing headman hedders

hey, if anyone would be kind enough to detail the installation as much as possible it would be great. i just purchased a used, sopposedly perfect condition set of Hedman Hedders Elite Hedders. anyway. i am going to be installing them into my 92 305 tbi. what tools am i going to need, where can i get the gasket from? and what type of bolts should i use? if anyone can list the process for me, it would be great. please only experienced people because i really dont want to mess up. after i get the headers on, will it be ok if i drive w/ open headers to the exhaust shop? is there anything in particular i should ask the muffler guys to do? im just going to tell them to run the headers into the intermediate pipe i already have which i believe is 2 1/4"... i guess thats enough listed.. thanks

You need to use your brain and some assorted hand tools, as well as have alot of patience. the bolts and gaskets can be picked up at any speed shop, or knowing you probably go ask them at pep boys

He offered them to me also but by the time I'd checked a few things out he said he had sold them. I dont mind. I have sold enough things to know that you sell to the first guy who puts the cash on the table.
Good luck with those headers, they seemed a fair price. The problem I had is that in the UK there are not many garages that fabricate y pipes I was going to try and make one myself but looking at it again I dont think I would have done a very good job.

I noticed Summit had a sale on SLP headers so I have ordered from them. It looks like they are to be discontinued . Maybe they have had too many complaints about fitment.

One final point, I think when I checked on your headers they do not have a hole for the lambda sensor. You may be best fitting this in the y-pipe as it would be a shame to drill and weld those coated headers.

Cheers

Simon

Unbolt it from the motor mounts and jack it up. Be sure to remove the distributor cap before raising the engine! It is usually better to use an engine lift, rather than a bottle jack like I did.

Umm, my Edels, I didn't need to touch lifting the engine, I'd try without first.

If we are talking about the longtube headers Im sure it would be easier with it jacked up some. You shouldnt have to raise the motor for shorties tho.
