Header Questions??

I have a 87 TPI 350 T/A with a 5-Spd. I'm looking into getting some headers and had some questions. First which ones work best on these cars? I've read alot about how everone likes the SLP ones but how about Hooker, Flowtech, Headman, ect... Also I've been thinking weather or not I should remove the AIR tubes, Smog pump, and Air Injection valve? I live in FL. Is it worth taking off?and if so what headers will work that do not have the holes for the AIR tubes. Thanks

I recommend the SLP's for people who want smog-legal headers. For non-smog headers, I've heard good things about Hookers, but I have no experience.

Cool..another Florida guy, I'm in Homestead. You don't need AIR here, so get rid of it.

I can only say about the same as Kevin though, heard good things about Hookers, but no experience.

Recently installed a set of hooker shorties, they fit fine, work real well. Am satisfied with them. One word of caution however you may have to have a new Y pipe fabricated for them.

I had to have a custom Y pipe made for mine

------------------
91 z28 lb9 5 speed - hooker 1 5/8 headers - high flow cat 3 inch exhaust - home made ram air - tpis airfoil - dual chamber flowmaster - car used to be fast - lt1 auto killer - had a stock re-build on the lb9 - and now it sucks a$$

I have the Hooker Super Comp headers on my '87 IROC and they come with the Y-pipe and all of the emissions fittings. The part number is 2055. I did have to have the front mouth of the cat opened up a hair to fit over the end of the Y-pipe (forgot that in my last reply), but other than that they fit great. :-)
