when i go to the muffler shop should.....

as i said monday the muffler shop is going to make my y pipe for my car should i take my cat back system with me there so they can line the system up with the y pipe. the guy at the shop said that he would make the pipe long enough to take place of whre the cat was. i am just worried that if i didnt take it with me and i got home and the pipe didnt line up what would i do i would be screwed so what have u guys done in this situation?
