Personal preference.
I personally prefer the Hooker because it is loud where you want it to be loud... on the outside of the car! The Flowmaster produces a drone (interior resonance) at 2000rpm that will make you want to kill yourself on the highway. Keep in mind that 2000rpm on the highway with a 3.23 rear and 700R4 is about 65mph.
The Hooker sounds real good and rivals Flowmasters volume on the outside, but is much more tolerable on the inside. All depends what YOU are looking for.

hey my mom used to have an 88 accord LX-i that thing was fun as hell to drive its not the 1.6ltr the new civics have its the 2.0 but ive beaten, a 5 spd jetta, a 01 civic, a 92 civic, and a firebird 2.8 v-6 with it it was a bad *** lil car i actually miss it haha
I sort of have the mindset that the more people that have a certain exhaust, the less likely I would be to get it. I don't want to sound like everybody else. Nothing really personal against flowmaster, but that's why I wouldn't get it. They can sound good though. This popularity reason is why I considered Hooker for a while, although their system is growing in popularity too. I remember a while back, people had good things to say about Edelbrock's cat back system. I can't say if they still make it though. Oh, and for the record, I'm running an SLP exhaust. There is no way I would have purchased it new though! Luckily a deal came up
p.s. There really is no "best" system. Performance differences will be pretty insignificant, so cost and the sound you prefer will be the main criteria. So find as many sound clips as you can.
p.p.s Sorry, I forgot about Ravin. I've heard sound clips of it and liked how it sounded.

Even my Ravin sounds nice outside of the car. The best part is I really don't even hear it inside. Flows sound better behind a real motor. Hooker may just be you best way to go.

i have a 40 series and it sounds nothing like allt eh otgher flows on the road. Reall deep and grumpy sounding. Of coarse im probably the only person who put the muffler right on the y-pipe and just put in a dump. Really loud for a non modded oem replacement 350.

Be a little different and go with Magnaflow. It sounds deep and throaty and AWSOME! Im happy with mine although i have a 350 TPI with a mild cam and a high flow cat. Good luck with your decision!

I highly recommend the MAC system. It's loud as hell, and it's held together with flanges. Put some anti-seize on the provided studs and if you ever have to take the exhaust off, no problem. No clamps, no gasket leaks, and it fits awesome.
The only regret I have Is I didn't buy the system with the chrome tips. I'm thinking of calling them and seeing how much for the chrome tipped tailpipes.

Hooker sounds nice and flows well. Flowmaster sounds pretty nasty too but everyone and their mother has it. I had a Dynomax Cat-Back.. Low @ Idle.. Nice @ 4,000 RPM+..
Recently, like.. yesterday, lol, I installed the Random Technology 3" Cat Back.. and WOW. It gave my car a COMPLETELY different personality. Its loud.. throaty.. and simply roars at 5,000+ RPM.. Somebody wanna throw you the pipes? They'll sheet their pants when they hear this at 6,000 RPM Bouncing off the rev limiter. The muffler design is pretty much straight thru so the flow is excellent. Tight squeeze around the rear end and over the panhard bar and it didnt quite fit up to the cat 100% but its a VERY nice system. Granted, I have alot done to my car and Horsepower makes noise but this is a VERY Kick **** sounding exhaust and the quality of the build is just awesome. $320 for an alluminized 3" cat-back.. Sinister exhaust note.. and great flow. You can't go wrong.. I love it
Get the hooker if your on a tight budget. Cheap.. flows and sounds great. But if you want to spend acouple extra bucks and get an original system with a SICK sound.. Random Technology all the way its incredible.. I'm still pumped. LoL:lala:

I think that the Gale Banks exhaust is the best sounding exhaust if you have a stick car - my IROC (T5) sounded a million times better than my Camaro (TH700R4) with the same exact exhaust. Most of my friends agreed on that also. If you have an auto, I can only say listen to other people's cars with the exhaust u want before buying.

. I paid $100 for it used and in pieces. $80 to have it welded up. $180 for an adjustable exhaust and stainless 3", oh yeah, and it sounds GREAT. Cap it off for the highway drives and install a different plate for around town.
If going with new and only interested in sound, flowmaster. If you want performance stay away from blowmasters and get a superturbo (dynomax) system. They sound GREAT even for the cheap price.

get the 80 series flowmaster. My freind put one on his 92' Camaro RS and it sounds like a beast. Its the best sounding muffler ive ever heard on a camaro. It cost him 80 bones at summit racing for it and it fit the oe. i think the part # is 42583. give it a shot, its a bad *** muffler for a 3rd gen. good luck on the car man.

Edelbrock
I love the way the Edelbrock system sounds. I actually got complitments from the guy at the exhaust shop when they welded it together for me. I have Edelbrock street legal headers, dual Random Technology cats, and the Edelbrock 3" cat-back system and I love the way it sounds. Has a nice deep tone without being obnoxious. But I like having a fairly quiet exhaust so that people can't tell I have a strong engine in it.
P.S. The engine is the Vortec crate motor from Scogin-Dickey.

hey ive heard both the hooker and the flowmaster on a 350o 3rdgen and id have to say the hooker sounds the best. even though i heard the hooker on a lt1 camaro with cam, hooker headers, and hollow cats, it sounded meaner and luder than the flowmaster.

That's kewl....thats hard to believe that a 305 can be louder then a 350.....but....with headers and a cam and stuff....I could see how. I have a 1991 Z28 5.7 (L98) with 3 inch 80 series Flowmaster Cat Back, both cat's removed, 3 1/2 tips, and 3 inch exhaust cut out.....and it sound fantastic.....I couldn't even imagine it with headers and a cam.....that would be insane..but would be awesome!!.... as it is right now.....my 91 Z28 (5.7) is 10 times louder then my brothers 87 Z28 305.

well once i get headers , new cam or a whole new engine (supercharged 355 pushin about 500hp) the exuast sound sound sweet. but in the mean time i might go with a cam swap, hooker supercomps and im gettin an exuast cut out soon by flowtech, cant wait to just open that thing up and cruz around or even just sit at an idel and hear it roar.
i think someone else was runing the Mac exuast on here but they got pulled over for it being too loud and they went with a hooker catback i think so they would stop gettin tickets

I'm looking for chrome tips, so if you decide to buy the system I'll give you $150 and my painted tips if you order the system with the chrome tips and send them to me.

I've hear alot of exhausts on all different engines and I have to say I still like Flowmaster the best, especially on 350's, they are louder and of course will sound better. IMO Flowmaster is the exhaust that is the loudest and sounds better than them all, yes even the Aerochamber.
The exhaust I like 2nd to Flowmaster is believe it or not, Edelbrock.
