right at the moment i have a 86 t/a 305 auto q-jet but i hope to have a built 350 tpi and i was wondering if there was any power advantage from long tubes over shortys and if so what kind of exhaust (3 in. of course) true duels or not

 

Let's see.......


They weigh more.
They cost more.
They're more of a PITA to install.
You gain 5-10 lb/ft of TQ below ~4000 RPM.
It costs more to have a custom Y-pipe made in order to run a single pipe.
You can run dual pipes/mufflers which costs more and weighs more.
They sit closer to the ground.

So if those are all things you're looking to do, then they're great.

having had shorties and long tubes on the same car with the same motor........i am willing to deal with a very small ground clearance issue......long tubes and duals all the way for me.
