Help! 5/8th or 3/4th primaries???

I have finally saved up the dough to buy a set of headers and I think I wanna go with hookers. But the problem is that the only set I can find WITH the y-pipe is #2055, which has 5/8 primaries. 5/8s are too small for a 3fifty right? Im in a fix, anyone know if I can find a 3/4 header WITH the y-pipe?

I don't think the 1 5/8" primaries are too small for a 350. I know that the SLP headers also come with a Y-pipe, and you can get them with 1 3/4" primaries and with or w/out the AIR tubes.m They're more expensive, but they're also made out of stainless steel, so they'll never rust. However, getting regular headers coated will keep them from rusting -and- keep more of the heat inside the headers and out of the engine compartment.

the hooker 1 3/4 are long tubes...the slp 1 3/4 come with a y pipe but are shorties. the hooker 1 3/4 y pipe has to be made by muffler company or bought from mufflex (250) but the hookers are better. cuz they are LTs

I built a 406 patterned after an article I read in Chevy High Performance mag about a year ago. It uses 1 5/8 primarys into 2 1/2" mandrel bent duals. Through the exhaust it cranked out 500lbs of torque and 465hp! My engine combo is identical except I used shorty Hedmann headers, Hedmann Y-pipe and a single 3" mandrel bent Flow Master Catback system. I wouldn't consider putting duals on my car with this engine. I don't think it would be worth it. The area of the single 3" pipe is equal to a little less than two 2 1/4" mandrel bent duals. I figure I'm giving up a little power over 6,000 rpm but around 6,000 is where my engine peaks anyway. Hope this helps you decide.

I ran 1 5/8" full length Hedmans with 3" collectors on my 383 race car and still ran high 11's.

And like chevyii said. Unless you plan on going over 6000 rpm, 1 5/8" will be just fine.
