what are you putting it on? mods?

I'm happy with my Hooker cat-back $200, needed minor fab work, or a $260 bolt on.
Sound clip in sig.

Most aftermarket cat-backs will be the same HP output wise on a near stock motor.

click the pic in my sig too.

i have the edelbrock 3 in system. very happy with it. power gains were very noticable, though i did put the whole exhaust on at once.....

RIGHT NOW IT ONLY HAS A 180 DEGREE THERMOSTAT AND A K&N AIR FILTER. SO LOTS OF THINGS THAT CAN BE DONE...

I'D LIKE TO START WITH 3" CAT BACK EXHAUST, MAYBE A LARGER THROTTLE BODY - LET IT BREATH A LITTLE...

LATER ON MAYBE STAINLESS HEADERS AND SOME INTAKE RUNNERS, HOTTER IGNITION SYSTEM.

I THINK WITH A BIT OF TWEAKING AND LETTING THIS THING BREATH I CAN MAKE A NOTICABLE IMPROVEMENT WITHOUT OPENING UP THE MOTOR. NOT INTERESTED IN DUMPING A BUNCH OF MONEY INTO A THEN TEMPERMENTAL BEAST. (LEARNED MY LESSON IN HIGH SCHOOL...)

MID TO LOW 14'S ???? I THINK THAT WOULD BE REALISTIC. THROW IN THE MINOR SUSPENSION MODS - STB, SFB, STEERING BOX BRACE, SHOCKS AND I'LL HAVE A SOLID LONG LASTING RIDE.

Giff - for the money you seem intent to waste on a larger throttle body even tho all the TPI guys told you don't, you can make a cold air setup, upgrade ignition, and get a throttle body foil! Why do you want to spend 300 dollars or more to see marginal power losses from a larger TB?!?!

Dude you're young like me and I understand not having enough cash to do major stuff to your car... however, for the hundreds spent on a larger throttle body you can port/polish the living hell out of your plenum and base - now that's actual power gains.

Mid 14s on an LB9 w/o G92 option, will need some gears and a higher stall TC with full exhaust at least.

"Intent on wasting money"...nah!...hardly.. that's why I'm on this forumn!

for the approx 12 years i've had my formula i've heard/read about many supposed "fixes" for easy horsepower.

i'm intent on only one thing - soliciting enough feedback from various sources and then mixing in a little experience and some good old gut feel - been around longer than you may think - to come up with a good package. IE the best mix of cost/power/drivibility/longevity.

91 formula, 305 tpi, 5 speed, 3.42 limited slip, diff, twin cat exhaust

Wait, 305 5 spd, 3:42s, sounds like a G92 car, dude you should be real close if not at mid 14s if you're a good driver.

Decent driver I guess...but i've riddin in cars i KNOW are mid to low 14's and mine ain't that fast. having never run it on a qtr mile i'm guessing upper 14's??? to low 15's??? according to all the literature i've got (motor trend artical on the "new" 91 formula and varuous articles from the day) out of the box that's about all they'd do.

lots a potential though

Nah, there a few members on here I believe with near stock ones that run 14.2 or so.

A stock formula like mine running 14.2 ? That's STRONG. I'd be very curious to hear from anyone who's running these kind of numbers.

Enlighten me, seriously, as to what your doing to squeeze that kind of grunt out of your ride.

I never said stock, I meant near stock, like full exhaust and maybe a little tpi work.

On the topic of "full exhaust" - I'm assuming you mean headers and 3" exhaust?

How hard is it to install headers on a 3rd gen f-body and do you have any problems with excessive heat frying starters etc?

Had headers on a 66 Lemans I had years ago and when hot it could be a pain to start.

Thought about wrapping headers in some of the "tape" that's sold to reduce the underhood heat. Can't think of what they call it...

I installed the SLP #31007 for my application, it is 3" with dual 21/2" tips that exit out of the drivers side, it did make a noticeable difference that I could notice since I have no other mods. Pricy at $399.00, but it is all stainless steel.
