Headers

In buying headers, what type of mods should you have done to decide whether or not to buy 1 3/4 or 1 5/8? I have a 91 GTA L98. Just wondering for future reference.

Get the 1-3/4" for your 350 block.

I have seen many debates over this subject. If its mostly stock I would almost say 1 5/8, that should be enough flow for your engine. If you engine is modified then probably go with the 1 3/4. There will be those who will say 1 5/8 is enough and others who will disagree. Either would work I imagine, its up to you.

Go with the 1 3/4 now or wish you did in time to come! Even if its stock.

Buy the coated 1 3/4" Hooker Super Comp long tubes. Can't get better than these. Even if your motor is stock, your exhaust will be ready for when you modify it. If your buying headers, might as well do it right and get ones that will last forever and be able to support any future mods. Besides, the long tubes also sound the best. When my tax return comes in, I'm buying these headers! If you have to stay smog legal, go with SLP.

Thanks for the replies so far! My mods as of to date are: Subframe connectors, ported plenum, AFPR, airfoil, Stage 1 Fastchip, K&N Filter, removed air canister (huge bottleneck), 373 Gears, Flowmaster Exhaust cat-back, removed both cats. I think thats it

I would always go with 1 3/4" on a 350 if you have the money. Even if you plan to do nothing more to the car, the 1 3/4" will get you more. I wish thats what I would have done.
