long tube or shorty?

ok, this is the story my brother inlaw is putting a 400 hp 383sbc in his bird(was a v6) he already has every thing but the headers and we were going to get the shorty hookers but, I was thinking should we just get long tubes and get all the extra hp we can? I know a guy who does excellent exhaust work. he all ways does custom jobs real well so I think he can do the dual set up with no problems he even told me he did them before on third gens, so should we or just run the y-pipe? and what long tubes fit good?

Go long tubes, that's what I'm doin. The Hooker 1 3/4 ones would be good for that setup. People have used them, check for fast3rdgen's setup by searching.

I'll be using coated Hedman 1 5/8 long tubes.

I would go with the Hooker Supercomp #2210 long tubes. I just got mine but haven't got them installed yet.

How are your streets

The long tubes are nice because they give you torque without sacrificing hp. The problem comes into play with clearances. Me I like the torque but wish I would have went with the shorties because my exhaust has hit the ground more than once with its truew dual three inch exhaust.
