What kind of muffler do you recommend?
What kind of muffler do you recommend?
I'm setting up a custom exhaust for my '91 RS V8.
What's the best muffler for the money (street legal in CA)? I know there's Borla, but what model do you recommend? Flowmaster?
I don't want too much noise, basically want it loud when i get on it, and nice and low when i'm cruising or idle. It's still my daily driver so i don't want it to be annoying.
Also is there much of a difference between the 2.25" stock pipe as compared to 3" in terms of HP/torque?

If u want sound and performance but not as much sound, u could go with a Flowmaster 50 Series or a Delta Flow Flowmaster, which gives more flow and not as much sound.
I wouldn't run a 3in. exhaust on a stock 305 unless it is going to be heavily modded.

My formula came stock with a 3" exhaust (305 engine). I then put in the american thunder system. Its quite loud (its rumbles the house when i warm it up in the garage) I have heard that if you want it to sound like you have described, get the Dynomax system. 3" is just fine for a 305.. plus you will get better performance.

I think he meant to say 2 3/4" pipe witch looks like a 3" compared to the 2 1/4" pipe on a RS. The stock tpi exhaust is a good step up from the stock RS exhaust. With headers it would run real good and sound better.IMO
