exhaust flame questions

I know this has come up before but I had a few questions that I didn't see answers to.
1 If I rigged two spark plugs to my exhaust tips, about how far from the end of the pipe would be ideal
2 Can you leave it on all the time even if the car is idle without worry about it backfiring and the engine blowin up(not a good thing )
3 What kind of wire should I run? Several
spark plug wires spliced together or just regular wire?
Thanx

You will need a coil and triggering mechanism for each plug. Mount the coil close to the plug and use a regular coil wire to attach to the plug. Complete the coil circuit with 10 guage wire.
Good luck and be careful

Wow, I've always wondered if this would be posible. Could somebody fill me in on how you could do it? I figure I might as well put that unburnt fuel to work!

I had a flame thrower on a 62 chevy stepside. I forget the size of motor but it was a big v6 with a single barrel carb.
There are a couple of things you need to be sure to do to make it work right. First the exhaust gases need to slow down enough to ignite. I had a single exhaust that ran to a 4 inch piece of driveline 15 inches long. The peice of drivline was welded in the middle of my back bumper so I Kind of looked like the batmobile with the flames. I used the drivline because It was thick enough to take the heat and it had alot of volume to it to slow down the Exhaust gas.
Another Important thing is have the spark Plug within 6 inches of the end of tailpipe. If you put it farther in Your car will backfire, not shoot the flames.
Use a strait through type of muffler I used a glasspack.
To run the spark plug I had a fan motor that turned a distributer . The fan motor was coupled to the distributer with a peice of rubber hose and hose clamps ( like a drivline) I also had a seperate coil. A switch inside the truck turned on the motor with turned the distributer. Dont know if it matters but it was an old Points distributer. I slipped a peice of rubber hose over the wire that ran to the sparkplug the hose with the wire in it was tucked in the frame.
The key to the big flames is flood the motor. I got the best flames when my motor was dying from to much fuel. I would go down the road in a lower gear, Pull the choke and drop my foot on the gas. The Motor would start to die but the momentum of the truck would Turn the motor over and pump the raw fuel out the exhaust. I would get about 8-10 foot flames. Your duel exhaust will cut down the flame size but it will be cool with two flames. Depending on what carb you run, and the size of the motor your
duel flame could be just as big.

I don't remember a V6 in '62. I thought they came out in the seventies.

Drill a hole so the spark plug will fit tight Then spotweld it.

It was the original Motor in My 62. The outside apperance of the motor was bigger than a smallblock V8. I dont know What size it was (Cubic inches)
