305 to 400 need Headers????

I am swapping a 305 for a 400 and they told me the 305 exhaust manifold will not connect with the 400 and i should get headers. Any suggestions on what my options are???

I dont know why the 305 exhaust manifolds wont bolt to the 400 heads, but the best exhaust for an engine of that size would be hooker long tube headers, or SLP 1 3/4".

The reason the stock exhaust manifolds won't fit on the older heasds is because the passenger side head has the rear most bolt hole farther to the rear of the head...not symetrical (sp) like the exhaust bolt holes of the older heads........check the rear most exhaust port of the passenger side of both heads....you'll see what I mean.......
