exhaust opinions for 89 formula, 305 tpi/dual cats
hi guys,
i recently bought a '89 formy as a side "project car" and i'm interested in getting some opinions on cat-back exhaust for this car. as stated, it has the dual cats so i'll need something that is bolt-on compatible. i like way the factory setup sounds, so i'm not looking for anything too much louder. a nice rich deep burble that is not metallic or raspy sounding under $300.
also, please provide links for retailers on any cat-backs you recommend as i'm not very familiar with 3rd gen parts sellers.
thanks in advance

I'd say.....to go with maybe a dynomax catback system.....you might check with that have to offer. When I bought my 91 Z28...(5.7 TPI) It had a 3 inch cat back dynomax system on it....(not sure what exact system)...of coarse...I have it all redone so it's loud as hell now..lol.... but....it was pretty quiet......anyone else have an opinions..??? Let's help this fella out....hah

MD, that flowmaster looks pretty decent, only thing i don't like is the single tail pipe. they don't seem to have a similar one for a dual cat car with dual pipes either.
thanks for the suggestion.
so far it looks like it might be Dynomax.
anyone else?

You couldnt pay me to put Dynomax on my car again, might as well get a Sears muffler they will both sound the same. Once I saw how quiet it was I quickly went and ordered a 2chamber Flowmaster and had it spliced in...

I don't think the Banks system is being sold anymore. Shame too as I belive it was stainless. A friend of mine has the Slp 2OL and man that sucker makes the deepest rumble I've heard from a cat-back. Its also probably the cheapest stainless steel system for our cars at $400.
foxbat-the Banks kit is still being sold!..you can get it from places like Motorsport technologies, speed demon motorsport etc...it is not highly advertised like it used to be because banks is doing other hi-performance stuff right now,but it is still avail!..Pretty cheap too!...Like I said, you need to ask for it specifically!...
since you are in MA. I would call Crown automotive and ask to speak to Mark over there..they can get the Banks kit for you as they are a dealer for Banks' products..I think their # is 781 826 6200..good luck

I had a dynomax kit on my 82 t/a. Nice deep rumble without being too loud. With stock manifolds and cat the flomasters aren't too loud either (I have that setuip onmy current bird).
