How's it sound? I've heard dualed 3rdgens that have sounded like crap. I would like to have a nice sounding dual system!

I've seen the stock torque arm in place on another dual exhaust set-up on this board but when I tried it I couldn't get the ground clearance I wanted - and I like my homemade ladder bars a WHOLE lot better - it has the same Anti-Squat of running a T/A with LCA relocation brackets, it feels more stable at hwy speeds and corners better imo - basically it seems as if I have two tiny little torque arms at each wheel - but a 20 inches long they plant the tires a lot harder than 40-50 inch TA
The 1.75 in Hooker Headers fit great - no problems with the slave cyl or the oil filter - I put the heated O2 sensor on the side of collector instead of the the reducer because its less of an obstruction to flow there - otherwise both positions work fine
The transmission crossmember is the first thing I made when I decided to do this - its made from 3/16in 90 degree angle iron (mounting flanges), 0.25 in flat steel and 0.75 in black pipe all from Home Depot- I trimmed the excess metal for weight saving - it only took two tries to get that right
The X-pipe and most of the piping was made from 16 guage mandrel 2.5 in U-bends chemically stripped and painted - the X-pipe has a 1 3/8 X 2 1/2 in oval hole connecting the two - that brown stain on the X-pipe is $6 a qrt GM Synchromesh Synthetic Automatic Transmission fluid from the rear seal of the Tremec- b i g p i t a
Not in the pics but the fuel lines in the tunnel have been relocated upward about an inch - real easy to do since two brackets in series hold them to the body - I just removed one and bolted it up
Over the axle the pipes are supported using U-bolts and heavy duty exhaust hangers secured with the gas tank strap bolts - over the axle pass and dr side are essentially the same except the rear brake line splitter is relocated away from the pipe - and out the back with Dynomax Bullets and turndowns
Two things I want to do is install new rear brake lines and weld the splitter to the axle tube and either make a Panhard Rod Bracket Support Rod to clear the dr side pipe OR solidly weld the Panhard Rod Bracket to the frame - the bracket is pretty strong though.
I finished this two weeks ago and after tuning and all it sounds deep and choppy- the throttle response is incredible this engine wants to run but the custom Hypertech prom for the single exhaust wont let it - it idles best at 46psi which gives 750-850 mV and 1.6=/- pulse widths but at 3-4K RPM it leans out. I'm gonna get another custom prom and I'm hoping with all the low end torque producing mods- LT headers, LTR and X-pipe - I should be able to port the intake a little, get a Hydra Rev then start making good power at 6200rpms+ and still have some low end grunt left over
we'll see

what type do you have, how much, and where to get them would be helpfull!!

Ken, If you get a chance, shoot me over an e-mail, I have dual 3in, but with no tailpipes. I am interested in how you set up the ladder bar setup. I have a few more questions also.
Thanks,
Brit

The Tremec is pretty good especially the 3.27 first gear with my 3.08 rear (econo) gear ratio - I can launch without too much spin and still cruise at 70mph around 1800rpm
rated at 525 ftlbs Tq capacity
I have Hooker Long tube Headers 1 3/4 inch primaries no fit problems whatsoever- Jegs $380
Bowtiroc all the rear suspension parts (and most everything else for that matter) are homemade the ladder bars have to be used with LCA relocation brackets to create the extra mounting hole at the axle- I can draw up the blueprint and send it to you no big deal
how are you planning to run the rest of your exhaust?
look at these posted by 88blkiroc https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/...ML/001118.html - kinda interesting

Hi Kenn,
I am interested in doing a long tube header install with dual exhaust, the pics in this post are no longer available and you said in your last post that you could draw up blueprints. If you still have these pics or could draw up the blueprints, I would really be interested. You can contact me at IrocZS427@yahoo.com, or Iroc357@aol.com. Thanks David

Hey Kenn, would you be willing to discuss your ladder bar setup with me? I'm extremely curious on how you built it, if you could email me Xhiron@Hotmail.com and tell me abou tit I'd be very grateful.
