what years came w/ single 3" cat?
I need a make, model, year, or any other info so I can order the correct and complete setup for that year. I have SLP headers and want the year and model info so I can order the correct cat adapter. I also need to order the correct cat for that year so the SLP kit will work easier. This is for a 3" flowmaster single in/out exhaust or possibly dynomax if they do make a true 3" setup (not a 2.5").

no years came w/ a 3" cat, you have to order a 3" cat and tell them what kind of adapters you're going to have on each side of it.

If I'm right most CAT's was like mine which is 3"in / 2 1/2" out. I found this out when I had a was in the process of removing my CAT. I measured the inlet and it was 3" and it lookes the same at the outlet. I cut off the CAT and whent to install the pipe I had made 3"in / 3"out and then discovered it was too big. I had to have another pipe made which was 3"in / 2 1/2"out. Fit perfect. The muffler shop said the Maufactures do this in order to keep people from just sticking in a piece of pipe in there like I did. HAHA! Mine was factory exhaust tho.

Orginal owener of 1987 lb9 305 and it has a Cat with a 3" in & out to the 3" pipe to the
muffler with 2 1/2 exhaust. This is Stock.
Also, I just installed SLP 1 3/4 Headers and
used the 3" slip fit pipe from SLP. Just in case you question the header size, I just put
in a 350.

Well, they look 3", and the pipes going in and out of the cat are 3", but on the I-pipe side it necks down to a little over 2 3/4" for where the I pipe mates up at. Aftermarket 3" I-pipes still bolt to it... I believe that is officially the 3" factory cat on most 305 and 350 TPI single cat cars... That's what both my 86 and 87 305 TPIs had originially.
