SLP says their 1 3/4" headers only have 2 1/4" primary pipes on the single 3" cat!

WTF, I though that SLP headers with the single cat had dual 2 1/2" pipes into a single 3" y-pipe. The guy at SLP told me the pipes were 2 1/4". ??????? What is the real diameter, please help!

The real diameter is 2-1/4". That is the only bad thing about SLP headers. They have wimpy collectors (2-1/4") that mate to wimpy Y-Pipes (2-1/4"). Not good for us guys pushing some serious horsepower.

What the hell! Edelbrock uses a dual 2 1/2" y-pipe with small primaries and SLP uses large primary pipes with a small 2 1/4" y-pipe. What the heck is that!

dual 2.25" has more area than the single 3" pipe its going into. What are you complaining about?

The SLP collectors are 2 1/2" that necks down to the 2 1/4" y-pipe. I just built my own custom 2 1/2" y-pipe.

I'm complaining about the available volume of the exhaust I JUST ORDERED! The exhaust works just like an intake plenum. Volume can equal increased exhaust flow if a certain limit is not reached and I know our cars need all the help they can get. Not only that but the farther down you move the restriction in the exhaust the less impact on performance.

maybe if you call them and sound really pissed they'll send a bigger Y pipe. Aren't their Y pipes for stock manifolds dual 2.5"? I think my Hooker headers Y pipe is dual 2.5" maybe you can get that and put on your SLPs? but its not stainless steel maybe Kevin can have his dad make you a 2.5" Y pipe too. Jegs has the "Y" part of the Y pipe that has dual 2.5 to 3", dual 2.25" to 3", or dual 2.5" to single 3.5". The connections look great and are made by Flowmaster, they go for about $40. Maybe you can get some U bent tubing and have the rest of the Y pipe made up. Dunno that's all I can think of at the moment. Its too damned hot over here.

Well, SLP has no other y-pipe and I liketh stainless steel. SLP says their exhaust will support 480HP, I guess we will see. I am going to run my car at the strip with Edelbrock exhaust then change to SLP and compare the difference. It will be interesting.
