Heddman Shorty Headers: Install and other various questions within.

How long will it take to install them? How hard is it? Anything that is going to pose a problem? I got a good deal on some shorty's and well, the deal was irresistable(sp?). My cat. shouldn't be a problem because...my y-pipe as it was so screwed the pipe i stuck through the cat. is about 4-5 more inches longer (towards the bend of the y-pipe). So i imagine that'll fit. I did do a search on the subject but not much came up about fitment and install problems, except the flanges.

I did my heddmans at a friends shop with a lift, I think it only took around 2 hours to put them in. I would like to also say that is in an 84 z-28 with a 77' 4 bolt 350 in it with no smog crap to deal with and very little for wire harness(q-jet gone, have vacumme adv distr)

the hard part is getting the old manifolds off!
The drivers side is a little tough to squeeze past the steering column but not too bad.
The passenger side is really easy IF you take out the fan temp switch and put it in from the bottom, from the top it's a bitch to wedge past the a/c but from the bottom it slips right in.

I just finished installing a set of headmans.wasn't hard at all. i also went with the headman y-pipe. i suggest you simply follow the instructions.after removing the air box,air tubes, manifolds, and spark plugs. Raise the car up on jack stands, remove the motor mount of the side your working on, tilt the motor about an inch and the header drops right in from the top. replace the motor mount, and repeat to the opposite side, all in a days work.Good luck.

I don't have the directions. Do both sides go in from the top? Do I have to raise the engine on both sides?
