Eldebrock sounds like flowmaster????

Today I was at the speed store and asked about mufflers. The man told me to forget flowmaster because Eldebrock has a warranty and they sound the same. Is he full of it? He didn't say what series muffler. I will get a Ravin exhaust if the other options are more than $270.

He is full of it. Flowmasters are quite loud. I think the 40 and 80 series are the loudest.

No way does edelbrock sound like flowmaster. Get outta here, I used to own a 88 RS with edelbrock headers back. Nothing like flows, edelbrock is quiter and a lot nice sound.

I haven't ever heard Edelbrock. But I can tell ya one thing. Once you hear a set of Flowmasters on a SBC 355 w/ single plane Holley, Holley 750, Crane single pattern 302 duration solid lifter cam w/.510" lift, your heart will start to beat with the idle. I have yet to hear a set of ANYTHING that sounds like a Flowmaster.

I swear on Granny's grave, I am telling the truth!!! I don't know where I read it, but they actually did a brainwave scan of people listening to Flowmasters compared to other mufflers. The other mufflers caused the same brainwaves as high levels of stress do. The Flowmasters gave the same results as sitting on the beach, reading a book. No chit, I am not making it up. That's a good sounding muffler, wouldn't you say?

Blowmaster and Edelbrock are nothing alike. I have a 3" Edelbrock system from headers to cat-back with a Catco cat in the middle...it's perfect for my car. Not too loud to be annoying, but loud enough to make the car fun to drive. Can hear the EXPENSIVE stereo crystal when everything's shut, but minus windows and T-tops it roars. Looks good, lifetime warranty, flows wonderfully, and has a classy, more tone, less noise sound of the older musclecars. Edelbrock's website has three sound/video clips on a 4th get LT1. Not too bad. Good luck.

On a thirdgen, both have a good tone, but the flowmaster is a little louder and had a better sound in my opinion. The only way it is going to sound the best is if you put a straight pipe in for your cat and put a set of headers on. If you were comparing true duals exhaust, edelbrocks are FAR louder than a 2 chamber 40 series flowmaster. The edelbrocks can hurt your ears going under a bridge at anything over 2500 rpms.
